I'm a Mom!
By Bev Rosen Katowitz
Of all the professions in the world the most important, powerful, and rewarding of them all is that of a mother. Yes, you heard it here Motherhood is a profession.
The Greatest Love, The Strongest Bond, Is That Between A Mother And Child
Of all the professions in the world the most important, powerful, and rewarding of them all is that of a mother. Yes, you heard it here Motherhood is a profession. So to all the stay at home moms who look down at the ground when asked "What do you do for a living?", and mumble in some meek little voice "I'm just a mom." Well all I have to say to you is Shame On You. The next time someone asks you that question look them straight in the eyes and reply in your most assertive voice I'M A MOM!!! Whom else can shape the future of our universe than the moms of this world. The pay may stink, the hours are never-ending, but to hear your child tell you "I LOVE YOU MOMMY", makes it all worthwhile.
Sure, Superman may be able to bend steel with his bare hands and change the course of mighty rivers, but we all know that Superman doesn't really exist; now, Super-Mom that's reality. Mothers have an innate ability to take a helpless infant and in the course of time nurture, teach, and mold it into a self-sufficient viable member of society.
So here's to moms everywhere for every sleepless night, half eaten meal, going to work with spit-up on your blouse; for always being there to mend a rip, kiss a boo-boo, wear a pasta necklace, bake cookies, provide chauffeur service, giving in when we look at you with our sad little faces, for being a short-order cook, reader of bedtime stories, friend, confidant, teacher and the bearer of the best-est hugs and kisses in the world.
This page is dedicated in memory of my own mom Edna Rosen, my hero and mentor, whom not only taught me the true meaning of motherhood but was also my dearest friend.
